Born in Melbourne, Australia, 1957. Married to Ioanna Salta, teacher of philological courses and father of four children, Fotis (Surveying Engineer, NTUA), Sonia (MA in English Literature, Univ. of Athens), Stavros, (Electrical & Computer Engineer, Univ. of Thessaly) and Vasiliki (student, School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).

EDUCATION:

Degree in Physics, Department of Physics, University of Ioannina.

Diploma in Education, Melbourne University.

PROFESSION:

Physicist, Private tutorial school co-owner during the last 25 years, as well as involved with tourism business.

Science teacher at “St John’s Greek Orthodox College”, Melbourne, 1982-1985;

Served his national service in the Navy, 1986-1987.

PARLIAMENTARY & POLITICAL ACTIVITY:

MP for Lefkada with “ND”, during the period 2007-2009 as well as during the period 2012-2015.

Served as member in the Parliamentary Committees;

On National Defence and Foreign Affairs, for Greeks of the Diaspora, on Social Affairs, as Chairman, on Cultural Affairs, as Chairman, on Equality, Youth & Human Rights and on the Subcommittee for the Study of & Action against Narcotics.

Also served;

(As an MP) deputy-head of the ND Parliamentary Sector for Health and Welfare Issues,

(As an MP) chairman. at the friendship committee, between the parliaments of Greece and Australia.

Secretary for Repatriation & Special Population Groups in the ND party, 2011-2012.

Founding Secretary for Immigration Affairs in the ND party, 2009-2011.

SOCIAL & OTHER ACTIVITIES:

Vice-president in the Administrative Council of the Ioannina University Hospital, 2005-2007 (also served as acting President).

Vice-President of the Ioannina Association of Owners of Tutorial Schools.

Member of the Greek Union of Physicists.

Member of the “Ioannina Chamber of Commerce & Industry”.

Active member of the National Union of Greek Australian Students, Melbourne, 1982-1984, as well as member of the Central Council of the “Hellenic National Students’ Union”.

Stand-in Team Leader for the“Classified Tourism-Alternative and Specific Forms of Tourism” project of the ND Tourism Sector, 2002-2004.

DISTINCTIONS:

“Ecumenical Hellenism” program award (under the patronage of the President of the Hellenic Republic).

 Honoris causa inclusion in the collective edition of Personalities of Hellenism, 2002.

Gold Medal of the Holy Patriarchal & Stavropegial Monastery of St. John the Baptist, Melbourne,1985.
